This programme will give participants the opportunity to develop an understanding of conflict and conflict issues focusing particularly on the conflict in Northern Ireland. Participants will investigate the label ‘Troubles’ that has been attached to this conflict and will explore the various groups that were involved.

At the end of this programme participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of conflict
  • Understand the history and context of the Northern Ireland conflict
  • Explore the motives/views and reactions of individuals, groups/organisations involved in the conflict
  • Discuss the impact of the conflict on communities and individuals in both Ireland, Northern Ireland and England

Understand the Peace Process and the contemporary issues and challenges of this conflict.
