This programme will explore the many issues which are affecting conflict within the UK today including prejudice and discrimination, local and national conflicts, and the role of individuals, groups and organisations in inciting and escalating conflict.

At the end of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Describe the link between stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination giving real life examples of where these exist within our own communities
  • Examine the role of prejudice and discrimination in creating conflict
  • Discuss the role of the media in conflict
  • Identify conflict issues that are directly affecting them
  • Explain the aims, motivations, beliefs and methods of organisations such as the EDL and Islam4UK
  • Discuss the impact of these issues on individuals, groups and communities
  • Name some simple things that individuals can do to address these issues
