This programme will develop a greater understanding of the concept of identity and the role that this plays within groups. It will provide opportunities for participants to explore the motivations, behaviours and attitudes of groups and individuals in relation to their own experiences and to develop some alternative approaches to dealing with situations.

At the end of this programme participants will be able to:

  • List some reasons why people choose to become involved in groups
  • identify the benefits and consequences of group affiliation
  • Describe the ways in which group involvement can affect people’s behaviour/attitude
  • Discuss their own experiences of group involvement
  • Develop alternative approaches to dealing with potentially difficult group situation
