This programme will provide opportunities for participants to gain a greater understanding of the experiences and realities of refugees and asylum seekers in Britain and how they are affected by current issues.

At the end of the programme the participants will be able to:

  • Describe the difference between a refugee, asylum seeker, migrant worker and illegal immigrant
  • Explore the reasons why people ‘choose’ Britain
  • Understand the asylum seeking process
  • Identify  the issues and challenges facing refugees and asylum seekers within Britain
  • Examine the common ‘myths’ surrounding refugees and asylum seekers
